Lower secondary program

Students come to the Early Adolescence environment with a high level of independence and self-direction. They collaborate to work productively, a practice that paves way for the development of higher order thinking, oral communication, group-management and leadership skills. The environment is rich in its intellectual set up, providing a platform for real-life experiences, across varied areas of study.

Alive with interactive sessions and reflective practices, continuous assessments support the learning process of each child. The adults are experts from the respective fields of study, guiding them to identify their true potentials.

Who is an Early Adolescent child?

Like a moth metamorphosizing into a butterfly, Early Adolescence is a stage when a child gradually transitions into a young adult. There is a quest for individuality, identity and valorisation in every child.

Curriculum

The Adolescent children have moved into complete abstraction of concepts. Here they work and learn with more Inquiry based learning techniques of reading, discussing, and applying concepts. The subjects are explored, both in vertical and horizontal patterns. Concepts are not introduced in isolation, but are integrated with other disciplines. New knowledge is scaffolded with richer experiences and real-life application format.

Our curriculum is integrated across boards and we follow the IGCSE syllabus across most of our subjects.

Arithmetic and Geometry

The work now offered builds on the fundamental concepts offered earlier and moves towards real life applications. Children integrate these concepts and apply them across various areas of study. In Geometry they move towards higher concepts of calculation of area and volumes of spaces and shapes. They are guided through logical processes for understanding of the theories and formulae.

Social Science

History introduces the children to the formation and evolution of communities over thousands of years. The rise of kingdoms, power and war and their transformation into civilized societies, leads them to the study of Civics. Students are introduced to their rights and obligations as citizens of a country and its administrative setup. Geography is integrated with History and presented to the students as important factors of consideration and development of societies. They observe and study, the existence of nations and interrelationship of human beings and their natural living environments.

Sciences

The theory aspect of Physics, Chemistry and Biology deals with the investigation of ideas, simple calculation and evaluating evidences, while the practical aspect offers observations through experiments and analysing results to make inferences.

English

The focus is on Literature, to enhance the linguistic skills of the child through the three components of reading, writing and listening. The children are introduced to a variety of writing techniques and formats, with stress laid on the appropriate usage of punctuations and grammar.

Computer Science

The children are introduced to the fundamental understanding of the hardware and software of computers and its evolution over time. Computer programming languages are offered and supported with practical learning of application-based programs.

Languages

Hindi, Tamil and French are offered as a choice of second language to the children. Prose, poetry, grammar, composition and articulation are the key areas of focus.

In addition to the core curriculum, Early Adolescent students also participate in co-curricular activities that lends to their holistic development as an individual and aid to grooming them into confident and independent young individuals.
