Elementary

 Elementary Montessori – Age : 6 – 12 years

At Sprouts, the elementary child enters a prepared learning environment designed to address his/her psychological characteristics and developmental needs. His primary classroom experiences have laid the foundation of a basic skill set that allows him to function in this new setting. The Elementary Program further develops skills in arithmetic and language, but children are encouraged to use these tools to extend and enrich their learning, and to explore subjects of their own interest at greater depth. Concrete materials, are used to teach math and grammar and other materials are drawn from real life to teach geography, world cultures, science, and human experience. Elementary in Sprouts forms its basis on numerous field trips, going out programs, experiential learning, programs with cultural exposures and many such creative platforms, to support their studies of science and culture. Through our dedicated and trained staff, elementary provides challenging academic content and emphasizes consistent and responsible study habits. The structure of our school perfect for helping each child to develop to his best potential. We holistically help students prepare for the next stage in their education with organizational skills, managing time, writing short answers and essays, and editing, correcting and evaluating one’s work. As Elementary students begin to take their place in the world, they develop as involved citizens in their community.

  • Children begin to become competent readers, avid geographers, expressive writers and budding mathematicians. The Elementary Program stresses basic skills in arithmetic and language, but children are encouraged to use these tools to extend and enrich their learning, and to explore subjects of their own interest at greater depth. Concrete materials, similar to those used in the Primary classrooms, are used to teach math and grammar, but other materials are drawn from real life to teach geography, world cultures, science, and human experience. In third grade, students put on a curriculum celebration with oral and visual presentations that highlight work done during the year. Elementary takes numerous field trips to support their studies of science, geography, and history.
  • Elementary  also provides challenging academic content, and emphasizes consistent, responsible study habits. Academic studies are calibrated to the ages and abilities of the children, enabling them to extend their knowledge once essential skills have been mastered. The school’s small size is an advantage for helping each child to develop the ability to interpret information, formulate questions, and express ideas. To help students prepare for the next stage in their education, organizational skills are stressed, including listening to directions, tracking and prioritizing multiple assignments, managing time, taking notes, writing short answers and essays, and editing, correcting and evaluating one’s work. As Elementary students begin to take their place in the world, they develop as involved citizens in their community Elementary students also perform community service within the school as senior partners with Primary classrooms.
